Show Off!

SHOW OFF! is the opening exhibition of SALSALI PRIVATE MUSEUM (SPM) in Dubai. SPM It is not the show off of a short man with a possible midlife crisis, attempting a claim for fame. SHOW OFF! is not a Q-rated show and does not even have a catalogue!

The simplicity of the concept of SPM accompanied with an unlimited love for art will encourage many to follow a dream, to collect art and share their passion with a wider public.

The selected photo for the invitation was taken by Max Scheler, son of the famous German philosopher, Max Scheler Senior. The photo is the reminiscent for the ephemerality of any show off. Only true values such as tolerance and love will remain.

Scheler considered love as the movement which brings the continuous emergence of ever-higher value in the object. True love opens our spiritual eyes to these values in the object loved. Unfortunately the World-Era of adjustment was the cause of the subordination of these true values to certain mindsets within the related existing political and social frame works.

Therefore, we have an imperative and preventive responsibility for maintaining and continuation of the true values. Art is the peaceful and universal language for this individual yet global commitment.

A museum of the art is the responsive tool and a supportive platform in this context. It is a modern temple for tranquility, love, inspiration and not for SHOW OFF!
